Update for September

Gardel’s tango “Por Una Cabeza”, in John Lenehan’s arrangement for Nicola Benedetti, has been released on her latest CD for Decca – “The Silver Violin”. The disc includes an eclectic collection of music by Korngold, Mahler, Shostakovitch – all connected with the world of film.

Currently John is working on arrangements for the accordionist Ksenjia Sidorova. Tangos again – this time two of Piazzolla’s most popular – “Libertango” and “Oblivion”. These will be recorded for CD release with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at the end of September.


Meanwhile, on the performing front, John Lenehan appears with Julian Lloyd Webber in a programme of the complete music for ‘Cello and Piano by John Ireland and Frederick Delius.The recital can be heard in the following four locations this month.

18th -Turner Sims Concert Hall SOUTHAMPTON

24th – Wigmore Hall, LONDON (BBC lunchtime concert)


Also this month a recital with Tasmin Little in Breadford Cathedral. The programme will include Delius’s 2nd Sonata and Beethoven’s “Kreuzter” Sonata.
