The new disc of music by Ireland and Delius “Evening Songs” which features Julian Lloyd Webber with John Lenehan has been chosen as CD of the week on Classic FM. They will broadcast tracks from the disc each day (just after 10.00 for those in the UK).
The songs of both Delius and Ireland are full of beauties that rarely get heard. This project proved a revelation for Julian and John and the disc contains first recordings of works by both composers. There is a piece from the Independent here:

On one very busy weekend this month John Lenehan accompanied Tasmin Little in London and Sarah Chang in Italy (Genoa). The recital with Tasmin was in the beautiful church of St. Luke’s in Clapham and they performed their “Partners in Time” programme (see http://www.partnersintime.eu/). Recorded for BIS in 2009 this guide to development of the music written for the two instruments over the centuries continues to be universally popular with audiences.
An early flight next day enabled John to rehearse after lunch with Sarah Chang. The programme consisted of the Sonata op. 108 of Brahms, the Sonata by Franck and a newly arranged suite of music from “West Side Story”. The concert took place in the wonderful Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. Below is a link to a short clip of John and Sarah playing in Rome a few years ago.
